Would you like to deepen your knowledge of the body and movement? Perhaps you already work in fitness or wellbeing and want to strengthen your expertise. Or perhaps you are considering a completely new professional direction. What would happen if you let your interest carry you, develop and grow into real expertise? Perhaps this is where your next professional chapter begins.

The next Method Putkisto Face Up Instructor Training begins on 20 March 2027.

It all starts with curiosity – expertise takes you further

Training gives your work a foundation. Becoming an instructor is not only an investment in your career – it is also an investment in your life and in your ability to connect with people. When you truly grasp what you have learned, it stays with you in everyday life, too.

At the heart of the training is your own journey towards knowing your body, quite literally from head to toe. This is the experience you will then share with your clients. How you offer that knowledge is the art of instructing.

Wellbeing needs skilled professionals

There is no shortage of services for body care, exercise and wellbeing. What the field needs right now are instructors who can give clients more than exercises: an experience of what their own body is capable of. Too much striving makes life mechanical and exhausting. That is why an instructor’s skills play such a big part in shaping the client’s experience.

“I firmly believe that everyone should have the chance to learn to understand their own body better,” says Marja Putkisto.

This belief is the foundation of the Method Putkisto instructor training.

Method Putkisto training is not just about learning to teach movement – it is about understanding the body and the person

Instructing is not simply demonstrating movements or giving directions for exercises. It is the skill of explaining your choices and adapting your expertise to different people. It is the ability to observe, listen and understand what a person needs. When doing and understanding come together, the effect of training reaches far beyond individual sessions.

Expertise does not appear in a day. It is built from understanding, practice, experience and a desire to keep learning.

People crave movement, connection and meaning

Wellbeing is about much more than physical performance. During the training you will gain knowledge that comes to life first and foremost through your own body. When you understand why exercises are done and how the body can be approached holistically, you have a foundation you can trust and build your professional skills on.

When striving gives way to deeper learning, understanding fuels your motivation and opens your eyes to the value of an instructor’s work.

As both a student and an instructor, you will learn together with others, share experiences and develop your skills in a community united by an interest in the body and movement. By sharing, you may notice things you had never thought of before.

The training is a springboard into the field

“The best thing about being an instructor is the moment the lightbulb goes on and a person recognises their body’s potential in a new way.” – Ulla Pesola

Even if you already have experience in exercise, body care or guiding people, you may feel that your expertise needs more depth, structure or a clearer foundation. In the training, interest becomes systematic learning. You learn to understand what you do and why. You gain a method that helps you develop your work, and you gradually find confidence in your own way of instructing. The training gives you:

  • Knowledge that grows into skill – an understanding that gives your instructing meaning. When you can observe and listen to the body, you can help clients understand their own practice better. Training can become more mindful, safer and more individually guided.

  • A method and tools – a structured way to instruct, to move your clients forward and to deepen your expertise. The aim is not to offer everyone the same solution. The aim is to help people recognise the structure of their own body and so find their own way to move and develop.

  • A professional identity – the feeling that your work fits you perfectly.

  • A community and lifelong learning – an international community where you can share experiences and grow together with others. The community is inspiration and support, and it creates a constant flow of development.

Your learning does not end with what you already know

“We do not study simply to gain more knowledge. We learn so that we can see more, understand more deeply and do our work with greater awareness. Over the decades I have come to understand that nothing is as important as curiosity. A single new insight can change how we see movement, meet a client or build our own work. I remember a moment when a Finnish Professor Esko Mälkiä defined strength and explained to me when I am strong enough and how that is measured. It was a true turning point for me: the lightbulb went on, and that knowledge changed the way I learn and teach – and in the end, the whole school. It helped me understand that less really is more. Moments like this remind me why developing your expertise is so valuable.” – Marja Putkisto, trainer and Method Putkisto product developer
