No more saggy neck or double chin!

Marja's Club

A supported jawline is a sign of confidence. When your neck is lifted and aligned, you don’t just look better — you feel more self-assured.

If you want to energise your life, start by releasing tension in your upper body. Learn how to hold your neck correctly, what to strengthen, what to relax and lengthen, and how to bring natural radiance to your face. True progress happens when you recognise what each exercise feels like — not when you simply perform movements mechanically. With awareness, shoulder aches ease and posture improves naturally.

When posture is supported and the head is properly aligned, wellbeing becomes visible in your eyes and skin tone. Under stress, many of us unconsciously activate our grinding (clenching) muscles. This tension spreads to the superficial neck muscle, the platysma, causing tightness and downward pull. The solution is simple stretching — but, more importantly, awareness.

Awareness Creates Change

Learning to observe how you use your body is the only sustainable way forward. Proprioception — your body’s ability to sense itself — can be trained. When you become aware not only of movement, but also of how emotions are expressed through your upper body, real transformation begins.

The Impact of “Social Media Neck”

Constant mobile device use weakens the neck and jaw muscles. As the head tilts forward, circulation is compromised and strain builds. Tight shoulders affect breathing, leading to shallow breaths, fatigue, and headaches. Over time, this posture may result in a “widow’s hump” (also known as hyperkyphosis), which reduces cervical spine mobility and signals poor circulation.

Holding chronic neck tension drains energy and impacts overall wellbeing.

One of the strongest forces shaping the lower face is the grinding muscles. Under stress, they activate automatically and influence the shoulders and breathing. When breathing becomes superficial, it affects health and facial expression. If we smile using grinding muscles, deeper neck stabilisers cannot function correctly. This is why we must relearn how to smile.

The first step is simple: decide to smile softly and consciously. That decision alone begins to change muscle patterns.

The Neck as a Lifeline

In Chinese culture, the neck is considered a lifeline — and for good reason. A supported neck allows you to hold your head high, influencing not only appearance but also energy levels and wellbeing. Science increasingly supports the connection between posture, circulation, and vitality.

Relax the platysma. Release pressure from the shoulders. When the mind is calm, the shoulders soften — and you look younger.

Test: Do You Have a “Social Media Neck”?

Place your palm at the junction between the thoracic and cervical spine — where the upper back meets the neck.

Do you feel soft tissue resembling a lump?If so, address this daily.

To avoid a widow’s (dowager’s) hump — hyperkyphosis, an excessive forward curvature of the spine — reduce prolonged sitting, stretch regularly, take movement breaks, and exercise consistently.

If you want to look and feel your best, prioritise your neck.

Beauty is worth cherishing. Facial exercise can be both holistic and healing.
